Be aware of thunderstorms in your area and be prepared to take shelter. .Excessive Rainfall...Flooding of urban areas, roads, small streams, and washes. Isolated flash floods possible. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday A wet and unstable weather pattern is expected to persist through early next week. A series of troughs will promote thunderstorms and excessive rainfall across the area, enhancing the potential for flooding across the islands. Wind-driven seas and a subsiding northerly swell will maintain hazardous conditions to small crafts and life-threatening rip currents through today. Marine Weather Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 210 PM AST Fri May 3 2024 AMZ711-712-716-723-726-733-735-741-742-745-040215- Atlantic Waters of Puerto Rico and USVI from 10 NM to 19.5N- Coastal Waters of Northern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- Coastal Waters from Cabo San Juan to the waters between Anegada Island and Virgin Gorda and North 10 NM- Anegada Passage east of Virgin Gorda and Saint Croix south to 17N- Coastal waters east of Puerto Rico, around Vieques, and around and just north of Culebra and Saint John- Caribbean waters of Puerto Rico from 10 NM to 17N, including the coastal waters of Saint Croix- Coastal Waters of Southern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- Mona Passage Southward to 17N- Coastal Waters of Northwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- Coastal Waters of Southwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM- 210 PM AST Fri May 3 2024 Satellite imagery and doppler radar indicated both the development of strong thunderstorms across various sections of the local waters. Conditions are likely to deteriorate during the next few hours, lasting through the evening. These thunderstorms are capable of producing winds up to around 30 knots, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. Waterspouts are possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. $$
